DIY Beauty Dish Test Shots

A preview of some test shots made with the diy beauty dish.

I was really surprised with the quality of light that came out of the beauty dish. At 20-qts (bowl size), the spread of light was really wide and spilled past Raf, onto the wall. And with a tight space to work in (*cough*Raf, clean your room), it was a challenge getting him far enough from the wall to really black out the background. I was going for moody, dynamic and mysterious.

All shots were  post-processed so the shadows/blacks are more prominent than in the RAW image, but I just love how it contrasts with the the lit part of the face. Looking forward to shooting more with this dish!

Nice light and post processing. I thought the light on the background was intentional :p Looks good.
